Type in the Comments box and click Publish to talk about Endangered Species!
Here are some Ideas of what to post:

  • Check out Go!Animate.com and make a animation about endangered animals or how we can help, than post the address of your video so we can watch it! PS. We'll make sure to leave a comment!
  • If you like cooking, try to make food shaped like an endangered animal, then send a picture to Litaforsyth@gmail.com , and we'll post to the website! PS. Make sure to send a nickname (not your real name), so you can keep track of your endangered food.
  • Make and send us a puppet show sending a message about endangered species. Share it with your friends and family.
  • Write and present a speech to your class about the plight of endangered species and how they can help them. (You can choose one endangered species if you like, or you can do one on the rain forest)
  • Have some good jokes about endangered animals? How about a riddle or story? If you've got any, post em' here!
  •  Check out Animal Jam, a really fun online game where you can get animals, decorate you den, and play games. You can make a difference in Jamaa!! To sign up, go to  http://www.animaljam.com/create_account. To help endangered species (donate gems and suggest endangered animals to help), go to The Conservation Museum (formerly the Animal Museum) in Appondale. There you can donate your gems (you can earn gems by playing games) to help endangered species!! :D (to appear on the wall of honour for donating in Jamaa, you must send us a snapshot of yourself donating at least 100 gems to help endangered animals. In the e-mail you send us, remember to include your Animal Jam username, your animals name, or your own nickname or first name)

You must send at least the second snapshot with your Jamaa username, your animal`s name, or your first name or nickname.

    Make a difference at HOME!

      • Never purchase products made from threatened or endangered species.
When you go on a trip, you might want a souvenir. But sometimes the souvenirs are made from species nearing extinction. Don't buy: tortoise-shell, ivory, coral, hardwood. Don't buy items made from the fur of tigers, zebras, polar bears, sea otters, crocodile skin, live parrots, macaws, cockatoos and some finches, some live snakes, turtles and lizards, some orchids, and cacti, medicinal products made from rhinos, tiger or Asiatic black bear, and other endangered wildlife things.

      • Avoid eating a lot of tuna. Believe it or not, some species of tuna are endangered!!

      • Find out where your beef comes from. Some cows are pastured on cleared parts of rain forests. Encourage your family to by local beef.

      • Try to use a minimal amount of paper. Some of the wood used to make paper comes from the rain forests which most endangered species call home.

      • Organize a lemonade stand, bake sale, or a talent show to help raise money for a funding organization. Get your friends and family to help you.

      • Clean up your neighborhood! Pick up cans, plastics, and other garbage to help the environment! (You do not need to remove banana peels and other organic matter. They help the environment. Please leave them!)

      • Drive slowly to avoid running over animals on the road.

      • Put screening or place decals on your windows to minimize the amount of birds flying into windows.
      • Drink tap water instead of bottled water

      • Don't use plastic bags for shopping. Use reusable fabric bags. We encourage you to start using fabric bags on a daily basis to keep plastic bags out of the landfill :)

        • And finally, REDUCE REUSE and RECYCLE!!!! :)
        • Have any Ideas? If you've got any suggestions for the website, or ideas about how people can help protect our endangered friends, you know the drill! Post them up so we can see what you think! Also, if you have any questions about the website, you can post them here and we'll get back to you soon! (Remember to keep checking back to see if we've posted an answer)
        More activities coming soon!

          1. Well, you can view the Endangered Species page to see some of the ways you can help a particular species, or you can choose a few things from the list on this page. It's great to hear that people are concerned about endangered species. :)
